Tough hike, the climb to Bowfell would be enough for most but the additional 3 hour return to Scafell is equally, if not more challenging, with a lot of scrambling terrain. Hard enough dry, only for the most confident or crazy in the wet. Allow 7 hours for this hike. I was slowed by my Westie who needed carrying over all scrambles. That said the views here are fantastic. Definitely do it this direction, if you value your knees. So, clockwise. Vis wasn’t great on top but dropped out of cloud cover just 50m down.
