Rutebeskrivelse
The village of Lëpusha marks the starting point for an unforgettable journey to the summit of Vajusha Mountain.
To reach the peak, you’ll embark on a scenic 3 hour hike through mountainous terrain and lush green meadows, ascending natural stone steps along the way.
For the uphill route, I recommend taking the shorter trail option (see Picture 4 – Headtrail at 1305 m, chose trail 4 km long), which branches off at the trailhead. This path not only offers a more direct climb and moderate but also passes by the stunning Lëpusha Waterfall (Picture 7), a highlight of the journey.
The experience begins the moment you set foot on the trail. The crisp mountain air and the untouched wilderness instantly awaken your senses. As you ascend, the sun filters through vibrant foliage, and natural springs offer refreshing moments of cool, crystal-clear water. It’s a hike filled with raw, immersive contact with nature.
When you reach the Vajusha Summit at 2057 meters above sea level, you’re rewarded with a view that’s beyond breathtaking — a vast panorama of peaks, fields, and alpine meadows that leaves you speechless. It’s a moment of awe that captures the very essence of natural beauty.
For the descent, I chose the alternative trail, completing the hike as a circular route. While this option offers its own scenic charm, I do not recommend it for those unaccustomed to hiking or not in strong physical condition. Instead, for a safer and more moderate descent, I suggest returning via the same route taken uphill.
