Where Knooppunt 45 (Duin Horst en Weide) appears on Papeweg, there's the majestic entrance to this beautiful area right in the middle of the densely populated Randstad.
The walk passes most of the highlights in the area, but does not reach the tea pavillion, which is beautifully situated and is a jewel in its own right.
(By the way, the tea pavillion is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. See the website: http://www.theepaviljoendehorsten.nl, only in Dutch.)
If possible, plan to take this walk in the best season, which is when the lilacs are in full bloom in spring. Still, in other seasons it's just as attractive, simply to climb to the top of the hill via the winding path that takes you to the viewing point / belvedere at the top as if you're climbing a spiral staircase.
This hill was developed in the 1790's, the belvedere is from the early 19th century. The lawn at the foot of the hill is an ideal spot for a picknick.
The only drawback to this country estate is the noise you hear from time to time from the nearby Rijksstraatweg (N44) in the most westerly part.
There are a number of signposted paths, this is a combination of these paths.
