Rutebeskrivelse

The weather was damp and rainy in the morning and turned into just damp in the afternoon.
The temperature was around 12 degrees Celsius.
The trail started from the beginning of the Maaser Ech Chouf town (elevation 1300) and made its way through dirt roads, pavement, Barouk river bank, and water canals passing through the towns of Botme, Batloun, and Mokhtara.

The trail passed through the Mel Valley (Wadi el Mel), Botme Forest (Hersh Botmeh) where an old oak tree called Fernaya Tree (Shajret Fornayya) is located (see waypoint); the trail then passed by the Valley of Batloun (Wadi Batloun), Barouk river until we reached the El Jdeideh Bridge (900 meter ASL) where the hike ended.
The scenery was beautiful with the greenery of the spring in full bloom and the melting snow feeding the brooks and waterfalls that feed the Barouk river that made it a worthwhile trail.
The trail was very easy; I would rank it a 3/10. the ascent/descent was insignificant.

Fernaya Oak Tree

This old oak tree is believed, by locals, to have healing powers. Pilgrims from this area come here, with their wishes, to pray and leave a piece of clothes tied to its branches.
