This is a short walk along part of the Why Valley Walk near Hay-on-Wye.

This walk is for a day when the weather has closed in on the mountains, or perhaps a less arduous walk is desired. By parking the required distance from Hay-on-Wye (perhaps using the toll bridge at Whitney-on-Wye) you can structure a walk of any desired length.

Once at Hay-on-Wye you can look at the shops, have lunch at Tomatitos. Tomatitos has excellent Tapas and is frequently very busy in the evening, you can't book so it can be a bit tricky. However, it appears to be much less busy at lunch time so this is the idea time. There is free WiFi.

The route goes mainly via farm land, so you get to meet and greet the animals, and the fungi as well. As you approach Hay-on-Wye it becomes more expensive 'farms', with some interesting orchards being planted. Also the odd field of corn, or whatever is there when you walk.

If you park close to where we did then also take time to visit the church, an interesting grave yard. Quite a few graves of very young children. We met an interesting local and had a long chat.

The advantage of a formal walk is that there are bridges for the creeks.
