Príncipe Real is an upscale area known for its 19th-century mansions, happening gay bars and fashionable shops. The Moorish-style Embaixada palace, is a premiere shopping destination showcasing local designers and concept stores. The neighborhood also has many small art galleries and antiques shops. Starting from Rua Nova Do Almada, follow the route to Largo Do Carmo where you will find Museu Guarda Nacional Republicana, Igreja Do Convento de Santa Maria Do Carmo, and the Miradouro Do Carmo above the Elevador de Santa Justa. Next stop the Museu-Igreja de São Roque followed by Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara. Then on to Palacete Ribeiro Da Cunha and the Moorish Embaixada. The Jardim Do Príncipe Real provides an opportunity for a rest with its café. Return to the city via the Largo de Jesus and the Igreja de Nossa Senhora de Jesus and then Igreja de Santa Catarina. The walk ends in a quait café bar, A Beirense, at Calçada do Carmo 49 near the train station.
