Escursione ad anello che utilizzando le alzaie delle vie d'acqua ci porta alla scoperta delle Grange medioevali. Da Santhià, raggiungiamo il borgo di Crova da cui iniziamo a percorrere la prima parte del lunghissimo navilotto di Asigliano da cui poi ci stacchiamo per raggiungere le Grange di Darola e Lucedio. Da Lucedio sempre attraverso sentieri campestri, raggiungiamo la Grangia di Castelmerlino e subito dopo il villaggio di Leri ( purtroppo in stato di completo abbandono e rovina) - Pausa per uno spuntino al ristorante " La Colombara"- Riprendiamo l'escursione raggiungendo, percorrendo sentieri campesti, l'alzaia del Canale Cavour che ci riporta verso casa passando per la frazione di Carpeneto e il paese di Tronzano .
ATTENZIONE: lungo i canali si percorrono strade di servizio su sommità arginale non protette pertanto occorre prestare molta attenzione
Circular routes which lead you to finding the Medieval Granges using the towpaths of the waterways. From Santhia’ we reach the village of Crova from where we begin to follow the first part of the extremely long irrigation canal of Asigliano from where we then break away to arrive at the Granges of Darola and Lucedio. From Lucedio, still crossing country paths, we reach the Grange of Castelmerlino and immediately afterwards the village of Leri (unfortunately in a state of complete ruin and desertion). A break for a snack at “La Colombara” restaurant and then we continue on our way along country paths till the Canale Cavour towpath which takes us back home passing through the hamlet of Carpeneto and the village of Tronzano.
Warning: there are service roads along the canals on the top of the banks which are unfenced so please take great care.

E' una delle più grandi e belle cascine della zona. La struttura attuale risale ai primi del Novecento ma all'interno si trova un torrione che pare risalga le XIV secolo . Faceva parte del gruppo della Grange che sottostavano alla giurisdizione di Lucedio. La grangia non è visitabile all'interno in quanto proprietà privata. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is one of the largest and finest of the farmhouses in the area. The current building goes back to the early Nineteenth century but in the interior is a tower which apparently dates from the XIV
Century. It formed part of the group of Granges which came under the jurisdiction of Lucedio.
The Grange cannot be visited inside as it is privately owned.
Grande complesso abbiaziale fondato nel medioevo dai monaci cistercensi provenienti dalla Francia che si stabilirono in questo territorio per bonificarlo e renderlo coltivabile. Il patrimonio dell' abbazia comprendeva tutte le grange dei dintorni alle quali veniva dato in gestione una parte del terreno da coltivare e gestire. Il complesso è oggi di proprietà privata ma è possibile visitare l'abbazia e l'azienda agricola su prenotazione. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A large abbey complex founded in the Middle Ages by Cistercian monks from France who settled in this territory in order to drain it and then cultivate it. The abbey’s patrimony comprised all of the surrounding Granges. To each of them was granted a part of the land to cultivate and manage. The complex is privately owned today but it is possible to visit the abbey and farm by appointment.
E' una delle molte Grange sparse sul territorio facente parte, nel Medioevo, del patrimonio di Lucedio . It is one of the many Granges spread over the territory which, in the Middle Ages, constituted a part of the patrimony of Lucedio. The complex cannot be visited inside since it is privately owned.
Antica Grangia e una delle molte proprietà della Famiglia Benso a cui Cavour fu particolarmente affezionato. A metà '800 era un' importante e innovativa azienda agricola. Ora il borgo versa oggi in stato di completo degrado e abbandono. Dopo molti passaggi di proprietà, il complesso abitativo è ora di proprietà del comune di Trino Vercellese. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An ancient Grange and one of the many properties of the Benso Family, of whom Cavour was particularly fond. In the middle of the 1800’s it was an important and innovative farm. Now the village is a state of complete ruin and abbandonment. After many transfers of ownership, the dwelling complex is the property of the commune of Trino Vercellese

Historic and important agricultural holding for rice cultivation. In private ownership. It is possible to visit the ecomuseum of the “mondine” (female workers in the paddy fields before mechanisation) which is set inside.
Rappresenta un manufatto unico in Europa per dimensioni e importanza. La sua costruzione, lungo il Naviglio d’Ivrea, fu motivata dalla necessità di misurare la quantità di acqua destinata ai vari canali e ai fondi agricoli, in modo da evitare liti tra l’ente erogatore e gli utenti. Venne progettata dopo l’entrata in funzione del Canale Cavour e delle sue diramazioni; la realizzazione si protrasse per oltre 25 anni (dal 1885 al 1911). L’elegante palazzina che la ospita rappresenta un esempio di archeologia industriale di inizio Novecento, con influenze liberty. È affiancata da una torretta su tre livelli, con il vano scale. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------It is a structure unique both in dimensions and importance in Europe. Its building,
along the Naviglio di Ivrea (Ivrea canal), was motivated by the need to measure
the quantity of water destined for the various waterways and agricultural holdings,
in such a way as to avoid disputes between the supplying body and the users.
It was planned after the Cavour Canal and its branches came to being;
its realization extended over 25 years (from 1885 to 1911).
The elegant building which houses it is typical of the industrial archaeology
of the early 1900’s, with Art Nouveau influences.
It is flanked by a small tower of three storeys, with a room for the staircase.

Ciao Gabry , domani e Domenica seguiremo le tue traccia con indicazioni(complimenti , anche in Inglese) lla Scoperta delle Grange tra risaie e Lungo il canale Depretis da Santhià alle origini . facendo Base a Crova . se hai qualche altro consiglio su cosa vedere e dove mangiare eventualmente lungo il percorso ...
